Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens at a glance
Palazzo Pitti is a large palace on the south bank of the Arno. The Medici court bought it in 1550. Today it houses several museums, and the Boboli Gardens rise behind it. The Vasari Corridor ends at the Pitti side, so the palace is a natural next stop after the Ponte Vecchio.
The palace and the garden are separate sights with different opening rules. The palace is closed every Monday. The garden is closed only on the first and the last Monday of each month. Do not assume that everything is open at once.

Closed areas
The Treasury of the Grand Dukes has been closed since 3 February 2026 until further notice. The porcelain museum is closed for renovation. Some rooms close for maintenance from time to time, so a route can change. Look at the museum's closure notices before you plan around one collection.

Getting in and around the garden
Four entrances, and a few rules.
Entrances
The Boboli Gardens have four entrances: the palace itself, Annalena on Via Romana, Porta Romana and the Forte Belvedere. Choose the one that matches your route.
The Vasari Corridor
The corridor ends at the palace side, near the Buontalenti Grotto and the Ammannati courtyard. You can continue to Boboli or Pitti only with a matching ticket, and you cannot walk back through the corridor.
Vasari Corridor guide →Garden rules
Do not feed, catch or disturb the animals. Bathing in fountains and basins is not allowed. Drones are not allowed. Stay on the paths, and in strong wind do not stand under trees.
Combine it with the Ponte Vecchio
From the bridge, the palace is on the other side of the river, in the Oltrarno. A simple plan is to cross the bridge in the morning, visit the palace, and spend the rest of the day in the garden. In summer the long closing hours help. In winter the garden closes at 4:30 p.m., so start earlier.
If you also want the Uffizi, see the separate ticket guide. A multi-day pass can cover both museums and the garden.
