The corridor above the bridge

Giorgio Vasari built the corridor in 1565 for Cosimo I. It linked the Palazzo Vecchio with the Palazzo Pitti, by way of the Uffizi and the roof line of the Ponte Vecchio. It was closed to visitors from 2016 and opened again on 21 December 2024 after safety work.

A visit is a reserved slot with a small group. You walk one way, from the Uffizi over the bridge to the Pitti side, and you do not come back the same way. Prices below are in euros, state 2026, and can change.

Daytime visits

How a regular slot works.

Days and times

Tuesday to Sunday. The first group starts at 10:15, and the last group leaves the corridor at 16:45. The corridor is closed on Mondays.

With the regular combined ticket

Your Uffizi entry comes 2 hours before your corridor slot, so plan the museum and the corridor as one visit.

Meeting point

You meet on the first floor of the Uffizi at room D19, 5 minutes before your slot.

Free Sunday

On free Sundays the visit is free, but you must reserve online.

Friday evening visits in 2026

A second way in, without the Uffizi collection.

From 3 July to 20 November 2026 there are Friday evening visits from 19:00 to 23:00, with last entry at 21:50. The ticket does not include the Uffizi collection. You meet at the entrance at the Piazzale degli Uffizi next to the Loggia dei Lanzi, and you leave through the RondΓ² di Bacco towards Piazza Pitti.

So the corridor is not sold only together with the Uffizi. Check the current dates and the number of places before you build your evening around it.

The route

One direction only.

The route runs from the Uffizi over the Ponte Vecchio, through the Grotta Buontalenti, and out to the Ammannati courtyard on the Pitti side. You cannot return through the corridor. The length is given as about 750 m and also as about 1 km plus 100 m to the courtyard, so plan for roughly a kilometre.

A corridor ticket does not include Pitti or the Boboli Gardens. To continue, you need a matching ticket. See the Pitti and Boboli page.

Ending at Palazzo Pitti

The route ends at the Ammannati courtyard on the Pitti side of the river.

Rules, bags and photos

Know these before you queue.

Bags. Backpacks, suitcases and large umbrellas are not allowed into the corridor. You can leave items in the cloakroom and collect them afterwards by the street route. Since 11 May 2026 the ticket service charges €2 for bulky items over 55 by 40 by 20 cm, and for other items on request.

Photos. Private photos are allowed without professional equipment. Video is forbidden, and use in advertising needs permission.

Access. There are ramps and lifts. Wheelchairs, including the person, must not exceed 230 kg and 120 cm in length. If you have specific needs, check with the museum before you book.

Resellers. Resellers set their own prices and terms, so compare what a booking includes. A product sold as guided must name its own guide as part of the service, because the museum staff do not guide.

The corridor from the river

From the river you can see the corridor as a covered passage that runs above the shops of the bridge.

How to plan the booking

A short checklist.

Choose the type

Decide between the regular Uffizi plus corridor ticket and, on a Friday, the evening visit without the collection.

Book for everyone

Reserve a place for each person. One transaction covers up to 5 tickets, and a further booking is needed for more.

Match the names

Tickets are personal, and the Uffizi checks that the name matches the ID. Do not plan to hand a ticket on.

Leave bulky bags behind

Arrive without a backpack or suitcase, or allow time for the cloakroom.
